Amelia Johannsen Ceramics Artist

Hello, I'm Amelia. I'm a curious person who enjoys making things—especially out of clay.

Last year I stopped spending my time sitting behind a computer screen and I decided to follow my dream of making a living as an artist.

I work in a small ceramics studio in the PobleNou district of Barcelona. My biggest inspiration is Mother Nature and while I like to experiment with different design concepts, I lean towards rustic and minimalist styles.

Studio Ceramics

I create both fine art and functional pottery. I incorporate different materials and techniques in my artwork , including wheel-throwing, hand-building and sculpture.

I'm currently spending about half of my time in the ceramics studio. During the other half I'm developing new projects to support local artists in Barcelona.

You can currently find my pottery for sale on Etsy.com or get in touch to come by my studio.

Mosaic

Clay can teach us many lessons. The most important lessons for me have been patience, adaptability and letting go.

Ceramics is a complex process and pieces break all the time. You can either try again, let them go, or adapt. One fun solution I use when my pieces turn out wrong or break in the kiln is to make mosaics.
